Breast Lift With or Without Implants: Making the Right Choice

Cited Research

A breast lift repositions and reshapes; it does not add volume. The most common point of post-operative regret in mastopexy patients is wishing they had added an implant for upper-pole fullness.

Lift alone

Best when the patient is happy with her current volume in a bra but wants higher position, a smaller areola, and a more youthful shape.

Lift with implant (augmentation-mastopexy)

Best when the patient has lost upper-pole fullness (post-pregnancy, post-weight-loss) and wants the bra-on look she remembers. Slightly higher revision rate than either operation alone.
