Few topics in men's health are surrounded by more misinformation. The honest medical truth is that most men who seek enlargement fall within the normal anatomical range, and the most beneficial intervention for many is a candid discussion of expectations rather than a procedure.
What the literature actually supports
- Hyaluronic acid filler for girth — temporary (12–24 months), reversible, evidence-supported.
- Suspensory ligament release — modest, predominantly visual length gain.
- Vacuum and traction therapy — best supported as adjuncts post-surgery, not standalone enlargement.
- Pills and supplements — no credible evidence for size change.
What carries unacceptable risk
- Permanent silicone or unlicensed injectables — risk of granuloma, deformity, infection.
- Underground 'fat injection' procedures — irregular contour, often requires reversal.
- DIY traction without medical guidance.
