The neck is one of the first areas to reveal age, and one of the hardest to mask with creams or makeup. The right intervention depends on whether the issue is fat, muscle, skin — or all three.
When Kybella is enough
Deoxycholic acid injections (Kybella) destroy small pockets of submental fat. Best candidates are under 45 with good skin elasticity and an isolated 'double chin' that pinches as fat, not skin.
When you need surgery
Visible platysmal bands, jowling, or skin that does not retract after weight loss are surgical problems. A neck lift addresses the muscle (platysmaplasty) and skin envelope together — Kybella cannot.
Recovery comparison
- 01 Kybella: 4–7 days of swelling per session; 2–4 sessions.
- 02 Neck lift: 10–14 days social downtime; final result at 3 months.
