Otoplasty for Adults: Ear Reshaping Is Not Just for Children

Cited Research

Otoplasty is most commonly associated with children, but a meaningful share of our patients are adults who simply decided they were finally ready. The procedure is identical, the outcomes are excellent, and the recovery is brief.

What otoplasty changes

Through a hidden incision behind the ear, the surgeon reshapes the cartilage to set the ear closer to the head and create the natural antihelical fold. The change is permanent.

Recovery in real life

  • First week: a soft compressive headband is worn day and night.
  • Weeks 2–6: headband at night only.
  • Most patients return to office work in 5–7 days.
