Seborrheic Keratosis Treatments: From Cryotherapy to Curettage

Cited Research

Seborrheic keratoses are benign, waxy, 'stuck-on' growths that appear with age. They never become cancer, but they can be cosmetically bothersome or catch on clothing.

Treatment options

  • Cryotherapy — fast, effective, may leave temporary hypopigmentation.
  • Curettage with light electrocautery — clean removal of larger lesions.
  • Topical hydrogen peroxide 40% (Eskata) — for select lesions.
  • Shave removal — for very thick or pedunculated lesions.
